Dear wine friends,

Thanksgiving is coming up, the Holiday season is around the corner and many start thinking about gifts for their loved-ones. What about a gift that comes with memories that last well beyond the actual giving: a wine tour!

In 2025 I am offering the following tours:

Bordeaux: Tuesday May 20 – Thursday May 29, 2025

Join us as we explore Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe, Médoc, Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Sauternes, Pessac-Léognan, where we will visit well-known classified Châteaux, classified under-the-radar Châteaux, and so-called “Petits-Châteaux” producing phenomenal wines. Wine and food, that’s so important in Bordeaux, and wine pairing lunches or dinners at famous châteaux with the owner or Managing Director are an almost daily routine. Besides doing Châteaux hopping, I will also show you other aspects of “Bordeaux” that the usual wine tours do not do: we will be introduced to the “Place de Bordeaux” buying and selling system unique in Bordeaux by visiting a négociant house, a wine merchant; we will visit a cooper to see from A to Z how a barrique is being made; we go to the basin d’Arcachon to see how an oyster is raised; we will experience the big bodies of water so important for the Bordeaux climate: the mighty Gironde estuary and the Atlantic ocean. Instead of sitting for 3 to 4 hours in traffic every day going back and forth to Bordeaux city we will travel around, spending nights in the heart of the Left Bank in Pauillac and in the heart of the Right Bank in Saint-Émilion to “feel” the vineyards; and of course we will spend some time in the vibrant, hip, cultural, cool city of Bordeaux.

This is a 9-nights – 10-days wine tour. The tour starts and ends in Bordeaux city.

The 3 Country Wine Tour:
Switzerland, Alsace, Southern Germany:
Wednesday June 11 – Saturday June 21, 2025

Germany is so closely identified with Riesling (and yes, it is the largest producer of Riesling world-wide) that you may be surprised to learn that the country is also very strong regarding the Burgundy grapes. It the third-largest producer of Pinot Noir (Spätburgunder), the largest producer of Pinot Blanc (Weissburgunder), and the second largest producer of Pinot Gris (Grauburgunder) in the world. Join us as we discover the beautiful southern German wine regions that produce bone dry, opulent Rieslings, outstanding Pinot Noirs and wines from other Burgundy grapes. We will hop across the border to Switzerland where we find out that Switzerland is a serious wine producer making delicious wines from Chasselat, and Petite Arvine, the diva of the Swiss grape varieties. Back in Germany we explore the Baden/Kaiserstuhl wine region famous for their fantastic Pinot Noir (aka Spätburgunder). We cross the Rhein river to explore the wines of the Alsace, a wine region that has been shaped by French and German culture for centuries. The journey through Alsace takes us through an enchanting landscape, and through small, incredibly picturesque wine villages dotted with half-timbered houses. We compare the different styles of Rieslings, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Pinot Noir of the Eastern (German) and Western (French) Rhein rift valley.

This is a 10-nights – 11-days wine tour. The tour starts in Mainz and ends in Frankfurt.

From Munich to Venice:
Opening of the Oktoberfest, Alto Adige-Trentino, Valdobbiadene, Veneto:
Friday, September 19 – Monday, September 29, 2025

You are right: Munich is not a wine growing area but we will start our wine tour through the Northern Italian Alpine wine regions in the beer capital. We start our wine tour in Munich with a wine tasting at one of Germany’s most acclaimed wine merchants. Saturday morning we will witness the festive “Grand Entry of the Oktoberfest Landlords and Breweries” which is the highlight of every Oktoberfest. The huge brewery horses pulling the beer wagons to the festival tents are beautifully decorated, the landlords and -ladies are dressed in their best traditional Bavarian outfits and this festive beginning of the Oktoberfest has not changed much since its beginning in 1810. Sunday, we take the train to Bozen, the heart of the Alto Adige wine region and gateway to the higher Alpin mountains. We explore the beautiful wine regions of Alto Adige and Trentino and learn about many grape varieties indigenous to these regions. The heritage – also in the winemaking field - is truly Germanic, given the fact that Alto Adige belonged to the Austrian Habsburg Empire since the Middle Ages. Only in 1946 an agreement was signed which gave Trentino-Alto Adige to Italy as an autonomous region. Our journey takes us south to Italy’s Veneto wine region where we stop in the breathtakingly beautiful Valdobbiadene-Conegliano region, the home of top Prosecco production and top notch Franciacorta, Italy’s sparkling wine which is produced in the traditional method by an extended second fermentation in the bottle. The final stop will be the Lagoon of Venice where we visit some wine producers and will have a fantastic seafood meal on the small island of Torcello.

This is a 10-nights – 11-days wine tour. The tour starts in Munich and ends in Venice.

Loire Valley: Sunday, October 05 – Thursday, October 16, 2025

The Loire Valley is a huge wine region spanning from Muscadet in the west to Sancerre in the east bordering the Burgundy region and then south to the Auvergne mountains parallel to southern Beaujolais and the Côte Rôtie. This vast region has about 185,000 acres of vineyards, most of which are on the banks of the Loire river and its many tributaries. The Loire Valley is home to 87 appellations and produces wines of a sheer diversity of styles and varietals, ranging from bone dry to sticky sweet dessert wines, red, white, rosé, vinified in both still and sparkling format. We take you on a journey from the Atlantic Ocean to almost the Auvergne mountains to explore this unique region. We travel along the eponymous river, starting in the hip, vibrant university city of Nantes, which was for centuries the seat of the Dukes of Brittany. We move inland towards Angers, the medieval seat of the Plantagenet dynasty – thinking of Richard the Lionheart, the most famous member of the Plantagenets. Here we explore the many facets of the wines of Anjou. We then move to the Touraine wine region, our gateway for visiting famous Loire castles and where we learn about wines from Vouvray, Chinon, and many other appellations of the Touraine region. As we move Eastward we will spend some time in the small town of Sancerre to enjoy the fantastic Sauvignon-Blanc wines and we end our journey with a beautiful meal in the iconic “La Coupole” in Paris.

This is a 11-nights – 12-days wine tour. The tour starts in Nantes and ends in Paris.

All wine tours are guided by my husband Christian and me. Once you arrive at the starting destination you are taken care off. All transport, meals, winery visits, accommodation in 4-star hotels, sightseeing and other cultural events, are included in the price. Prices will be made available on my website as of December 1st as well as the possibility of signing up for the tours.

To get an idea how the tours are conducted please visit the website: www.ombiasypr.com
My husband publishes a wine blog and he writes a summary on each wine tour as well as a detailed description of each winery visit. For past wine tours you can browse his blog: http://schiller-wine.blogspot.com/2019/10/total-immersion-in-bordeaux-world-class.html

Wine and Food play a big role during our wine tours. Wines go with food and we offer epicurean delights by organizing wine and food pairing dinners or lunches with winemakers in restaurants or at the wineries and/or Châteaux.

I kindly ask you to let me know any serious interest in the tours for me to start a list on the basis first come-first serve. Please note that I travel with a maximum of 12 people. The tours are very personal -many of the winemakers I have known for a long time - and many of the top Châteaux - domaines, wineries do not accept larger crowds.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me via email, what’s app, telephone to get more information on any of the tours.  I am very happy to answer all your queries.
