As French as it can get. Back at Bistrot Lepic and Wine Bar on Wisconsin Avenue with Annette Schiller,Anne Brokerand John Parisi.
Annette loved the sauteed veal kidneys in Dijon mustard sauce, I went for the pan seared trout with roasted almonds.
Dessert: Ile flottante of course.
In my view, Bistro Lepic is the most French restaurant in the Washington DC area. Not at all fancy food, but good, basic French cuisine.
In terms of wine, remembering the recent Loire Tour by Ombiasy Public Relations and Wine Tours, we had a Chinon for the main course.

Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar: There is no need to travel all the way to Paris to experience the fine cuisine and small neighborhood ambiance that Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar offers. Frequented by its Georgetown neighbors and discovered by other Washington-Area residents, the 50-seat restaurant is enjoyed and appreciated for its classic, regional and contemporary cuisine. Located on the upper floor, the wine bar of Bistrot Lepic also offers a newly designed dining setting with beautiful art work. We invite you to join us for a pre-dinner aperitif, an after-dinner digestif or a full-service dinner. Don’t forget our live jazz evening every Wednesday, Music from 6 to 9pm with an optional prix-fix menu.
Chef/owner Bruno Fortin opened the restaurant in April 1995 and named the Bistrot after Rue Lepic, a street in Paris where he used to live. Since Bistro in France is spelled with a “t” at the end, Bruno chose to keep the original French spelling. In its first year, Bistrot Lepic was named “Best New Restaurant of the year” by the Washingtonian Magazine and included Lepic in its annual “100 Very Best Restaurants” for eight consecutive years. Other reviews include “Best Top 10 Restaurants in the Country” by Bon Appétit and one of the top 40 restaurants in the Washington Post Magazine by food critic Tom Sietsema. Bistrot Lepic was also listed in the Washington Insiders address Book in the New York Times Magazine.
Managing-Partner, Cyrille Brenac joined Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar in 2005. He expanded the wine bar and created our new private room “The Wine Room” and develop one of the best French wine selection in town.
